Frequently asked questions.
How and where Do I measure my waist?
This is probably my most frequently asked question and my answer always is, “where do you want them to rest on your waist?” Every person has three sections that can be considered your waist line (see graphic); waist (waist line), high hip (mid waist), and hip (low waist). Your normal waist line is right under your breast bone about an inch and a half under your breast line. I have customers that wear beads under their navels and lower above their pubic bone. I find that woman who are heavier around their mid section prefer to wear their beads under their breast (waist line). If you have more questions, you can email me. This is also the area where I suggest a “weight gauge” strand should be. I will explain this more in the next question.
How does a “weight gauge” strand work?
I make Weight Gauge strands with smaller beads. Most common waist beads are made with a 6mm (6/0) seed bead. I make weight gauge strands with a 10 or 11 mm (10/0 or 11/0) seed beads. I find these beads to be easier to move in, as smaller beads roll up and down your mid section easier. As you loose weight, the beads will drop down lower on your waist line. If you gain weight, the beads will raise higher. I have had customers use weight loss strands and gradually advance to a normal 6/0 strand bead with no issues. Don’t overthink it though….it’s truly all in what makes you feel comfortable.
If you still can’t decide, tie a string around your waist where you may want the beads to be. Is it comfortable? Allow the comfort level of what that feels like help you decide where you want to wear your beads.
Can heavier woman wear waist beads?
Yes. I make beads for all shapes and sizes of woman from size 2 to 26W.
What if they pop?
YOU MUST MEASURE YOURSELF !!!
As with most jewelry and items we adorn our bodies with, waist beads carry energy. I infuse energy into every strand of beads I make or sell pre-made. If your beads pop consistently, this is a sign of an energy release and is needed until you find the right beads that are comfortable and balances with the energy you need. (or you may have a Taboo and that’s a deeper conversation for another time :))
If you participate in heavy exercising, lifting, bending or even rough sex, take your beads off, as this will lead to your beads popping or breaking much easier.
I guarantee all my beads for up to 15 days after they are delivered. (NO EXCEPTIONS) If you have an issue in that 15 day window, please email me and I will work with you to get them fixed, adjusted or replaced. I am very flexible but I am not responsible for the activities you participate in while you wear your beads.
Can I wear my beads as necklaces or over my clothes?
Yes, you can wear your beads however you like.
Do men wear waist beads?
Yes, I have made waist beads for men.
Do you use stretch cord to make your beads?
No, I do not use stretch cord to make beads. Stretch cord has a tendency to stretch out over time and looses its elasticity. I use a Stainless Steel clasp for people who may have allergies to faux gold or silver tone embellishments.
I am pregnant, can I wear waist beads?
Absolutely, measure ABOVE your baby bump, at your true waist.
Can I buy them as a gift for someone?
Yes, but you will need their waist measurements. Try your best to get that information so the beads I make fit them perfectly. You also have the option to buy pre-made beads and they can be cut down and tied on to fit, while supplies last. I do offer Gift Cards too.
What should I measure myself with?
You can usually find roll tape measures at any dollar store or fabric store. JC Penney’s, a tailor or any department store that sells bras will also measure you too. They usually will have a staff person on the floor that can measure any part of your body you need measured for free.
Do you make beads for young girls or teenagers?
I do not make beads for young woman under the age of 15. If you want your daughter to wear beads at a younger age, please buy her a pre-made pair from another supplier. These also make amazing Sweet 16 gifts for young woman.
How long do the beads take to make?
I usually take between 2-4 weeks to make beads however depending on demand it could easily take 4-6 weeks. If this is the case, I will usually let you know after you have placed your order. If you need your beads rushed, please email me and we can work to get your beads ahead of schedule for an additional $15 fee. The additional fee option is available to add to your cart in the “shop all” section of the store. Please explain in the note box at checkout the date you need your beads to arrive.
How do I put on my beads?
You put on your beads as you would put on a necklace that has a clasp but around your waist. You can start in a mirror and clasp them closed with the stainless lobster clasp claw, start in front and twist around until you are comfortable with the placement. You can take them off whenever you want. This is what makes Divine Adornments beads so versatile.
